Freak Like Me.. Part II

So after being rather slack on the blog front, I thought it was time to get back into my blogging. A few months back I wrote about my experience as a dresser at the 'Freak Like Me' fashion show that my university had organised. It was an amazing experience and overall the show was fantastic. This year it's my turn to organise one alongside my coursemates.. wish me luck!
Here are some photos of last years show for you to enjoy :)

The light at the end of the tunnel

Exam period is finally over and I've got one last project to complete before I'm freeeee! This past week and a half have seemed like the slowest, I've had minimal lectures to go and am one of the last left at uni so I'm pretty limited as to how I can spend my time. Inbetween my days filled with working and sleeping, endless online shopping has taken place. I was given a £40 Amazon voucher for helping out with the uni (Thanks NBS!) and was pretty clueless on what to buy! It's almost like another version of ebay, there is so much you can find on there and it's all so cheap!
I decided on some Jeffrey Campbell Lita style boots (fake obviously) I've wanted them for soooo long, but being the poor student I am had to put my wants on hold for a little while. They only cost £30, how impressive is that and come in every colour on the rainbow. I decided on the black suede, purely because I wear such bright clothing that any other coloured shoes might have clashed!
Here are my babies...
They've been sent to my home address so I have to wait until this weekend to get them, but no doubt I'll write a cheeky little post again! I've also figured shoe shopping helps greatly when going through a break up.. possibly a sign that I love shoes a little too much?!
Along with these beauties I also ordered a couple of jewellery bits, they were only a few £££ so it would've been rude not to get them really. I never used to spend my money on jewellery until I realised just how amazing it is when it comes to accessorizing! It makes picking outfits in the morning just that little bit easier.

Freak Like Me..

I've had a pretty hectic couple of weeks filled with presentations, exams and a 100 page assignment so I've had little time to spare to do anything else, particularly blogging! This week I managed to escape from the long days of essay writing and revision and helped out backstage with the second year's fashion show. The whole day was so much fun (if not a little hectic). I loved the insight into organising a fashion show and am pretty excited that this is something I will be doing next year! The theme was based around fetish wear, with fetish, alien and doll themed catwalk runs. It was amazing seeing the whole thing come together, it was a pretty stressful day and night but being able to see everything come together made it all worth it. The outfits worn by the models were crazy, but they had been put together so well by the second years.
I worked with a model who seemed to have been given all of the tightest clothes possible, which made it a pretty difficult task to get her changed in time for the next walk. Somehow I managed to get her changed and onto the catwalk without anything in the wrong place (thank god!). I must admit I was really impressed with the whole thing though - a full team of professional hair and make-up artists were put in place for all the models and even little details like demented barbie dolls were used! I haven't taken any backstage photos but I know there was a photographer so I'll be sure to add some pictures as soon as I get hold of them!
Let's just hope us first years pull off our show just as well!

Charity Shop Love

About a year ago I made friends with a girl who had the most beautiful style, yet brought all of her clothes and accessories from charity shops, so I decided it was time to follow this trend. Being a student I'm extremely limited to the amount I splurge on new outfits (hardly easy when I'm a fashion student constantly surrounded by amazing new clothes). A few weeks ago I was does in London visiting the family when I quickly popped into Oxfam and found this cute little wrap dress! It's perfect for the spring season with this floral pattern and colouring and only cost me a mere £5! I'm extremely happy with this purchase and didn't even have to make a dent in my bank account - what more could you want!

Another recent charity shop purchase was this Pierre Balmain vintage purse. I've been looking for a bright red purse for forever without the ridiculous price tag, so you can imagine how pleased I was when I snapped this up for just £2! It's a little worn, but I am definitely not going to complain, plus I kind of like that it looks old and used.

My Wish List

Lately I've really got into reading fashion and beauty blogs and have seen wish lists galore among all of them, so I decided to create one of my own! I am currently a student and most of the things I want are pretty out of my price range. My birthday isn't until June which sucks, but hopefully ma and pa will be feeling generous on my next visit home! (maybe I'll just leave this page on the computer for them to see)

1 - Topshop Python Wedge Chelsea Boots.
I was looking for some heeled chelsea boots and these cropped up during my search! I do have tendencies to buy far too many black wedge heels but they work with every outfit and are soooo comfortable. I am completely in love with these, particularly the pointed toe and they look perfect for both day and night wear!

2 - LOVE Long Sleeve Wrap Dress.
LOVE is a brand I've only recently started shopping with, I discovered them at the Clothes Show Live back in December and loved some of their pieces. This wrap dress has to be one of my favourite on their website and is a fair price ranging between £30 and £40 (and they kindly sent me a £10 off voucher - now I have no excuses!). I will definitely be purchasing one of these ASAP, my only problem is which colour to choose! I'm thinking this coral one will add some brightness to my summer wardrobe!

3 - Wavy Jewellery Handmade Cross Necklace.
For a while I've been looking for a cross necklace that I know not many people will have and I found my answer through twitter. An awesome handmade jewellery maker started following me, so I thought I would have a look at some of her work and I was amazed! Her jewellery prices are ridiculously cheap at £3 or £4 and particularly favoured this necklace, I will most definitely be ordering soon!

4 - Firetrap Palo Large Tassel Shoulder Bag.
For a year and a half I worked for the company Firetrap and loved every second of it! Whilst I was still working for them back in December I was eyeing up this bag, I have no idea why I never brought it, but as I was scrolling through the website I noticed it had gone into the sale. I've wanted to buy a new handbag for ages and now I just can't say no!

5 - Wavy Jewellery Handmade Cross Ring.
Yet another Wavy Jewellery item and yet another cross - I'm starting to think I may be a Christian in denial. This is another of Wavy Jewellery's items that caught my eye! In fact I think I'm just going to order them now!

6 - YSL Touche Eclat.
Since starting university I have unfortunately gained what I would call my worst nightmare - dark circles. I never had this problem until I started living in halls, I'm blaming the uni for this! I'm lucky enough to have a mum who is extremely clued up on make-up products and has used practically everything under the sun, so I generally know what products are best to use. Before I buy this I'm definitely going to have to search around for the lowest price - it's a little out of my price range for my student budget!

7 - Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick.
Another love for a make-up brand learnt through my mum! Bobbi Brown has to be my favourite make-up brand around, or at least a close tie with MAC products! If I could own all Bobbi Brown products, I would. This blush product has got to be my new must-have, it's perfect for the summer time and knowing Bobbi Brown products will most definitely be worth the money! Might have to wait a little while for this one though.

8 - Missguided Pinstripe Leggings.
I can't say Missguided is a website I look at often, however I was pleasantly surprised when I came across these pinstriped leggings! I've seen them in the jeans style, but I'm not too much of a jean lover so these leggings are perfect. I think these are going to have to be added to my summer wardrobe.

One Hot Mama!

Okay, so I must admit I'm not a huge follower of celebrities, but I make an exception for Beyonce! I was pretty excited when I heard she was pregnant - I know I wasn't the only one! Everyone waited in anticipation for her post baby pictures and I was definitely one of those! I was simply amazed with her first appearance after the birth of baby Blue Ivy, only Beyonce could look this beautiful after having a baby! She's still kept her baby curves, but she's still sexy as hell!

NYC!

So New York has been and gone now, but my god it was one of the best weeks of my life! I love travelling and I'm a big fan of the big cities. I'm pretty sure New York is going to be one unbeatable holiday, a girls holiday just couldn't compare and countries such as Spain are just nowhere near as amazing as the Big Apple!
We started off our trip with a visit to Ground Zero, it brought out emotions I just can't describe! Everyone in New York has different stories to tell about people they knew or had lost during the attack. Obviously I'd seen it on the tv before, but you just can't quite get your head around how many people were really affected from it! We then spent the rest of the day cheering ourselves up with retail therapy around SoHo, so many bargains to be had in New York. Come prepared with many dollars if you ever visit.
The next 2 days were spent on our study tours, which included companies: Tommy Hilfiger, Anthropologie, Jeffreys, Armani Exchange, Dress for Success, Chaus, OPR and RMC. I must say that I preferred Armani Exhange and Chaus (I have expensive taste for a student) not only did their buildings ooze class but the whole layout, along with the workers were out of this world! I'd love to work for companies like that in years to come. I'm not knocking the other companies, as they were all just interesting! Anthropologie I found extremely inspirtation, the company sets themselves budgets for merchandising all over their stores and come out with the most outrageous, yet interesting displays. After these visits I'm definitely thinking into getting some experience in New York for a couple of months!
Over the rest of the week, we paid visits to the Empire State building (another must if you're ever in the area), Times Square (a place of pure happiness), Central Park and Fifth Avenue. Each and every day was totally different and gave me an insight to life for New Yorkers! Some people say "once you've been to one big city you've been to them all", but I've been to both Paris and London and this is far from true. The people are different, the layout is different, the buildings are different and most importantly, the fashion is different! It's a place I definitely need to visit again and could possibly even live in in the future. Who knows what could happen?!
